The Giulietta was the first mass produced Alfa Romeo and vastly increased their profile. A Giulietta Sprint 2+2 Coupe designed by Bertone in 1954 was the first model introduced followed by the Berlina saloon four door three box style.

The 2+2 coupe a 1290cc 65Bhp engine while the saloon engine was reduced to 53Bhp still with the 1290cc engine. In 1955 appearing for the first time the prototype for the Giulietta Spider released at the Turin Motor Show, this model was designed by Pininfarina using the same mechanicals as the Sprint however set on a short wheel base and lacking in the metal roofing on the Sprint. 1956 produced a Sprint Veloce modifying the original Sprint with aluminium alloy doors, bonnet and boot lid, plexiglass side and rear windows and an engine with different carburettors and camshafts which now produces 90Bhp. A modified Spider Veloce was also introduced along side this.

In 1957 the introduction of the most popular model of the Giulietta was launched, this turned out to be 50% of the whole models production and it was the Giulietta TI consisting of a 65Bhp engine in the Berlina body shell. In 1959 there were a number of small changes to the models these didn’t effect the output change just minor changes to improve the reliability of the vehicles.
